Celebrating Halloween in Japan

Happy Halloween everyone! 🙂

While you’re all putting on your zombie and Nicki Minaj costumes, I thought it would be interesting to look at how the Japanese celebrate Halloween.

Japan is rapidly becoming influenced by the Western world. During the past decade, the main cities of Japan have started to cash in on Halloween celebrations with major department store and restaurant decorations and not to mention, a TON of merchandise. Here is a glimpse of Halloween in Japan:

Halloween Cos-play

The annual Kawasaki Halloween parade in Kanagawa Prefecture last year pulled 3500 costumed people and over 110,000 spectators. This is cos-play on another level (can it even get to another level?!). ‘The Ring’ costumes definitely should shouldn’t be done more often.

  1. Great photos! Those ‘The Ring’ costumes are awesome!! I’d be totally freaked out seeing that on the street..particularly if it wasn’t Halloween!
