Japanese Salarymen

Just going to work

Just a quick post about something I saw in a book on ‘A Day of a Salaryman’.

This advice was given under Surviving Rush Hour Commuter Trains.

“Don’t resist the swaying of the train, just roll with the flow. This is the safest, most comfortable way to ride.”

Sound familiar? If any of you have read any of Haruki Murakami’s books, the recurring theme of ‘flow’ is present through many of his books (if you haven’t I suggest you start with Norwegian Wood – his most famous work).

It seems that ‘surviving’ a commuter train could relate to much bigger things…
