After some inspiration from this macha green tea cake recipe, I decided to experiment with using macha powder in my own version. As I wanted to use up a lot of the left over ingredients from previous baking days, I used macadamia nuts instead of sweet chestnuts and almond meal instead of flour. It didn’t turn out as green as I had hoped though…perhaps due to the brown sugar? Nevertheless an ‘interesting’ afternoon tea – I may have to keep to the exact ingredients next time.
If anyone has any great recipes using macha powder, send them my way 🙂 I love green tea!
Sounds like an interesting mix of flavors – the only thing I’ve done with macha powder is make green tea ice cream (and it was delicious!)…but maybe pancakes?
It definitely was interesting haha I’d love to try making green tea ice cream! Do you have a particular recipe? Love your blog by the way 🙂
Thanks! We used Cooking with Dog’s green tea ice cream recipe – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ramzEoBjcV4 We used an ice cream machine and did double the recipe. Hope it turns out for you!

haha thank you! I was looking through your blog – have you seen green tea soap before? I’m using it for my face now and it’s great 🙂
I have heard of green tea soap but I’ve never used it. I will try and find some though on your recommendation 🙂
